Scientific achievements – PGD

INVICTA Fertility Clinics headed by Professor Krzysztof Łukaszuk PhD, MD, in addition to standard PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) procedures, develop their own, individual PGD diagnostic methods. Owing to them the couples who previously didn’t have a chance for healthy siblings now enjoy parenthood!

So far we have succeeded in developing the proprietary PGD diagnostic methods in the scope of the following genetic disorders:

Omenn Syndrome – INVICTA first in Poland!

Omenn Syndrome is a combined immunodeficiency associated with mutations in the RAG2 gene. The only treatment option for affected individuals is a bone marrow stem cell transplantation. The PGD procedure performed in the couple at risk of passing on this disease to their child was completed successfully and the patient of the Clinic gave birth to a healthy baby. The procedure including testing for 1313T>C and 1357T>A mutations in the RGA2 gene is now available in the standard offer of the Clinic.

Mitochondrial Cytopathy – COX Syndrome – INVICTA first in the world!

The PGD procedure was completed successfully – the patient of the INVICTA Clinic gave birth to a healthy baby. The procedure is now available in the standard offer of INVICTA Clinic for other couples at risk of passing Mitochondrial Cytopathy – COX Syndrome on to their children.

Smith–Lemli–Opitz Syndrome (SLOS) – INVICTA first in the world!

The PGD procedure was completed successfully – the patient of the INVICTA Clinic gave birth to a healthy baby. The results of the project were published in the renowned Fertility and Sterility Journal. The procedure is now available in the standard offer of INVICTA Clinic for other couples at risk of passing the Smith–Lemli–Opitz Syndrome (SLOS) on to their children.

Congenital hearing loss – INVICTA first in Europe!

The PGD procedure was completed successfully – the patient of the INVICTA Clinic gave birth to a healthy baby. The procedure is now available in the standard offer of INVICTA Clinic for other couples at risk of passing congenital hearing loss associated with 35delG mutation in the GJB2 gene on to their children.

Pericentric inversion of chromosome 4 – INVICTA first in Poland!

This proprietary PGD project related to a set of congenital defects: microsomia, microcephaly, pulmonary valve stenosis, delayed mental development, epilepsy. The procedure was completed successfully – the patient of the Clinic gave birth to a healthy baby. The procedure is now available in the standard offer of INVICTA Clinic for other couples at risk of passing the mutation on to their children.
