The application of the in vitro fertilization technique is considered by always analyzing the causes of infertility and chances for natural conception with the existing cause of infertility, a woman’s age, duration of relationship and previously used infertility treatment methods.
- fallopian tubal factor (e.g. permanently damaged fallopian tube, impaired function of fallopian tubes with maintained patency),
- male infertility factor (absence or abnormal number of motile sperm cells),
- endometriosis,
- hormone disorders,
- failed attempts at intrauterine insemination (max. 6 attempts by 35 years of age, max. 4 over 35 years of age),
- unexplained infertility.
- one of the partners is a HIV or HCV carrier,
- the couple is a carrier of genetic anomalies which cause severe and irreversible changes
- in offspring and the preimplantation diagnosis allows to avoid the decision on pregnancy termination,
- the woman starts anti-cancer therapy and there is high likelihood that the applied treatment will cause irreversible damage to ovaries.
