Surgical diagnostic procedures

In the case of doubts or difficulties with diagnosing the causes of infertility the doctor may suggest additional, enhanced surgical diagnosis.

Hysteroscopy

In some cases after the performance of appropriate tests it is necessary to perform surgical diagnostic procedures in the form of hysteroscopy or laparoscopy. At INVICTA Fertility Clinic all Patients have the possibility to undergo surgical procedures in hospital wards furnished with modern equipment and functioning in every INVICTA Facility.

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical method used to assess the condition of the organs in the uterine cavity. It involves the visual inspection of interior of uterine cavity with the use of a special optical device – a speculum called hysteroscope. A camera attached to hysteroscope allows to monitor changes in the female reproductive organs. As a minimally invasive diagnostic tool, hysteroscopy is gaining increasing popularity in diagnosing female disorders. Hysteroscopy allows not only to diagnose, but also to remove certain lesions, as well as to collect mucosa specimens. The examination enables not only the diagnosis but also the removal of certain lesions, and mucosa sample collection. Hysteroscopy is performed also in the course of investigating the causes of infertility or where there is a risk of miscarriage.

As a minimally invasive procedure, hysteroscopy is gaining increasing popularity in diagnosing female disorders. At INVICTA Clinics both diagnostic and surgical hysteroscopy is available.

After the tissue collection the uterine cavity is curettaged.
Type of anaesthesia: general
Duration of hospital stay: up to 3 hours after surgery

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a method of surgical treatment involving the execution of small incisions through which optics and a small surgical tool are introduced into the abdominal cavity. With this medical equipment abdominal cavity is inspected. During laparoscopy there is a possibility to perform a variety of gynaecological procedures, e.g. enucleation of ovarian cysts or uterine fibroids. Laparoscopy is applied in the course of the surgical treatment of male infertility and endometriosis. INVICTA Clinic offers the possibility of performing both diagnostic and surgical laparoscopy.

Types of laparoscopy

Description of the medical procedure: A laparoscopic surgery performed in order to collect a tissue specimen from the pathological ovarian lesion.

Duration of hospital stay: up to 24 hours after surgery
Description of the medical procedure: A laparoscopic surgery performed to assess the condition of fallopian tubes from the uterine horn to the abdominal mouth of the fallopian tubes; assessment of fimbriae of fallopian tubes and examination of the tubal patency with contrast administered into the uterus through a special catheter. On the laparoscopic picture the movement of the dark blue contrast from the uterus into the abdominal cavity is observed.

If there are any doubts relating to the cause of the problem, the doctor may refer the Patients for additional tests. In the case of suspected genetic background of problems with achieving pregnancy, genetic diagnosis is recommended (including karyotype test, genetic hysteroscopy). It is also indicated in the case of recurrent miscarriages.
